What we collect
- Your email address, when you sign up for the free briefing or a membership, plus the page or link that brought you (for example
?ref=), so we know which pages work. - Reading events: pages viewed, time on page, scroll depth and links clicked. Signed-out visitors are tied to a random id in the browser (
bsk_sid). Signed-in readers are tied to their account (subscriber_id). - A sign-in cookie, only if you sign in, so you stay signed in.
- Payment details, if you become a member. These go straight to Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- Your display preferences (such as dark mode), kept only in your own browser.
We don't use advertising trackers, and we don't sell or rent your data.
Who processes it for us
- Cloudflare hosts the site and its database.
- Neon (Postgres) and Cloudflare D1 store subscriber and member records.
- Clerk handles sign-in codes.
- Resend sends our emails.
- Stripe takes payments and runs the billing portal.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe in one click from briefing and newsletter emails. Sign-in codes, confirmation, onboarding and the membership welcome do not include that link. They are service messages.
- Manage or cancel a membership from your account, which opens Stripe's billing portal.
- Get a copy of your data, correct it, or have it deleted: email [email protected] from the address you signed up with.
